42 Years in the Making
The history of the development of the Transwing design concept is an interesting one. It began 42 years ago when its inventor, PteroDynamics' founder and Chief Technology Officer, was just eight years old. That's when he built his first RC aircraft. And he's been tinkering ever since, pursuing his passion for aircraft design, especially VTOL aircraft.
In those 42 years, he built numerous aircraft and yet found time to earn a Master's degree in applied mathematics, a PhD in physical chemistry and do post-doctoral studies in nonlinear dynamics.
Our CEO is a serial technology entrepreneur with six public-company exits under his belt having had P&L responsibility for seven companies, helping generate over $1.5 billion in gains for investors.
PteroDynamics came out of stealth mode at the Uber Elevate Summit conference at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles on May 8th, 2018. That is when we introduced the world to our Transwing aircraft design, the world's most performant distance VTOL vehicle.
We are on a mission. We know that our Transwing innovation is fundamentally good for humankind and the planet. We have ambitious plans to fully capitalize on the $1.5 trillion in addressable markets by 2040, and we realize that to do that will require us to collaborate with other companies. We cannot do it alone. We also realize that it will take more than just technology innovation; it will also require regulatory advancement, infrastructure development, and public acceptance. For these reasons, we have adopted a phased business model that enables us to generate revenue and positive cash flow immediately and throughout our growth as we build for the markets that will become available as regulations evolve, infrastructure is built, and the public becomes more comfortable with autonomous aircraft. This is a global opportunity where markets in certain regions will become feasible sooner than in other regions, due primarily to market demand and regulations.
Our business model includes licensing the Transwing design to other companies that are passionate about the potential of safe, reliable, and ubiquitous airtrans vehicles.
If your company fits that description, we'd love to talk with you!
